San Luis Potosí

Coming soon

San Luis Potosí is a crossroads before it is anything else. The traffic between central Mexico, the Bajío and the north runs through here, and the city grew into that role: a compact historic center on one side and, on the other, an industrial zone that has not stopped spreading.

Almost all of that industry sits in a single sector, to the southeast and right alongside Highway 57. Plenty of the people working there live at the opposite end of the city or in Soledad, and cross the whole thing twice a day.

Meal prep here today

Prepared food grew up around those hours. There are home-cooking businesses selling weekly packs built for someone coming off a plant shift with neither the time nor a free kitchen between one shift and the next.

They sell by direct message, and that way nobody gets to publish the one thing that really matters here: whether the delivery arrives before Highway 57 fills with freight.

How Platera helps

Highway 57 carries the freight going in and out of the industrial zone, and at certain hours crossing it changes a delivery run completely. A kitchen on the north side does not cover the southeast the same way at seven in the morning as at six in the evening.

With days and delivery window published up front, you choose by what your schedule can take rather than by whoever got around to answering a message.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it hold in the fridge?

Three to five days in a sealed container is the standard. Fish dishes, and vegetables arriving already dressed, give you less and are best eaten first.

Can I move portions to the freezer?

Yes, and with long days it is the practical move. Stews, rice and meat in sauce freeze well; salads and raw vegetables do not. When the pack arrives, decide there and then what stays in the fridge and what gets frozen.

Is it more expensive than cooking?

Cheaper at the store, more expensive by Friday: you are not buying a bag of chiles to use two, vegetables do not spoil on you midweek, and you stop ordering in when you get back late from the plant. And the pans are gone.

Can I try before booking a week or a month?

Yes, and it is the advisable route. Several kitchens sell packs of two or three meals for that. On Platera you can see who offers a trial without messaging five different places.

Do they deliver daily or once a week?

It goes by the business. Some do a single delivery, some spread it over two or three so the food arrives fresher, and some deliver daily. Each publishes its frequency, and here that decides a lot, given the traffic on Highway 57.

I work in the industrial zone and live across the city. Does this work?

It is built for exactly that. With the week already portioned at home, you are not depending on finding something open near the plant or on cooking again when you get in. The thing to check is the delivery window, because at that hour Highway 57 decides everything.

Do they deliver in Soledad?

Several do, which is why each business publishes its zone. Soledad is part of the same city in practice, but not every kitchen crosses out that far, so you filter by your colonia and see who reaches it rather than asking by message.
