Cancún

Coming soon

Cancún runs on tourism, and that shapes its hours more than anywhere else in the country. Hotels, restaurants and services work rotating shifts, weekends and high seasons where nobody keeps a fixed routine.

The real city sits well away from the hotel zone. The central regiones, Puerto Juárez and the newer areas to the south hold the people who keep everything else running.

Meal prep here today

There are prepared-food businesses built for shift workers: weekly packs that keep and reheat whenever the shift allows, rather than depending on a fixed lunch hour.

As elsewhere they sell by direct message, and with rotating shifts, arranging a delivery over WhatsApp gets harder still.

How Platera helps

Cancún is long and narrow, and the run between the center and the hotel zone changes completely with the hour. A kitchen downtown does not always cover both ends.

With zone, days and frequency published up front, you filter by where you live and by when you can actually receive.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it keep refrigerated?

Three to five days, always sealed. With fish and with vegetables that arrive already dressed the margin is shorter, so eat those early.

Can I freeze it?

Most of it, and here it is close to essential for making a plan last. Stews, rice dishes and meat in sauce freeze well; salads and raw vegetables do not. If the plan covers seven days, set aside what goes in the freezer as it arrives.

Does it work out costlier than cooking?

Yes if you count only what you pay at the checkout. No once you count what gets thrown away: you are not buying half a kilo of limes to use three, vegetables do not spoil on you midweek, and you stop ordering in on the days there was no time. And you forget about the pans.

Can I try without booking the full month?

Yes, and it is what we suggest. Some businesses run loose packs of two or three meals for exactly that. On Platera you can see who offers a trial without writing to half a dozen kitchens.

Is delivery weekly or more frequent?

It depends on the business. Some do one delivery a week, some break it into two or three so the food arrives fresher, and some deliver daily. Each publishes its frequency, so you filter for the one that works.

Does it work if I am on rotating shifts?

It is one of the cases it solves best. With the week already portioned, you eat when your shift lets you rather than when the nearest kitchen is open. You can filter for businesses delivering in the window that actually suits you.

Does food hold up in the heat and humidity?

Yes, as long as it moves from the packaging to the fridge quickly. That is why the delivery window is worth checking before booking, which is exactly what each business publishes in advance.
