Aguascalientes

Coming soon

Aguascalientes is a compact city, and that makes it unlike almost any other of its size. The ring roads organize the traffic, and crossing from one end to the other is still a matter of minutes rather than hours.

It is also a car-manufacturing city, with shifts starting and ending at hours when there is nowhere to eat. And once a year, between April and May, the Feria de San Marcos rearranges everyone's schedule for weeks, bus routes included.

Meal prep here today

There are prepared-food and healthy-delivery businesses selling by the week, and in a city of these distances the drop-off is cheap for them. It is one of the few places where a small kitchen can cover most of the built-up area without stretching itself thin.

What is missing is not supply but somewhere to compare it. Today it sells by direct message, one business at a time, and the home cooking two colonias over shows up nowhere at all.

How Platera helps

Because the city is compact, what decides things here is not distance but the hour. The difference between one business and another is whether it delivers before your shift or after it, and that is precisely what almost never gets written down.

With zone, days and frequency published, the filter stops being geographic and becomes a question of timing, which is what Aguascalientes actually needs.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it last in the fridge?

Three to five days, well covered, is what nearly all of them recommend. Anything with fish or pre-dressed vegetables holds less, so keep it for the start of the week.

Does what is left over freeze well?

Mostly yes, and it is how a week gets covered without waste. Stews, rice and meat in sauce respond well; salads and raw vegetables do not. On delivery, set aside whatever you already know you will not eat in time.

Is cooking it yourself cheaper?

Per meal it looks cheaper. Per month it usually is not: you are not buying a whole head of celery to use two sticks, vegetables do not spoil on you midweek, and you stop ordering in on the days there was no time. The pans do not even get dirty.

Can I try it without committing?

Yes, and it is what we recommend to begin with. Several businesses sell two or three loose meals with that in mind. On Platera you can see who offers them before booking the whole week.

Is it one delivery a week, or more?

It depends on the kitchen. Some do a single delivery, some two or three so it arrives fresher, and some go daily. Because the distances are short, more businesses here can deliver often, and each one publishes its frequency.

Do they deliver in Jesús María and San Francisco de los Romo?

Several do. They are close enough that a kitchen in the capital can cover them easily, but not all of them bother, so each business publishes its zone and you filter by yours.

Does it work if I am on plant shifts?

Yes, and it is one of the commonest uses here. With the week already portioned, you eat coming off shift without depending on anything being open at that hour. It is worth filtering for whoever delivers in the window that suits you, especially if your shift changes week to week.
